February 25th, 2008: Iowa State researchers help piece together the corn genome's first draft
Iowa State University researchers helped write the first draft of the corn genome sequence that will be announced Thursday, Feb. 28, at the 50th Annual Maize Genetics Conference in Washington, D.C. Read more here
January 2008:
The ISU_IBM Map7 has been fully integrated into the MAGI web site. It is possible to blast sequences
against the ~6,000 sequence-defined, genic, genetic markers generated by the ISU maize mapping project.
January 2007:
The ISU_IBM Map7 has been posted. This map contains ~6,000 gene-based genetic markers generated by the ISU maize mapping project, plus several thousand markers generated by other projects.
July 2006:
TIGR has sequenced 448 maize BACs. More recently, the maize genome sequencing project
(DBI-0527192; Rick Wilson, PI) began sequencing what will ultimately be ~19,000 B73
BACs. It is now possible to Blast MAGIs (or any other sequence) against these B73 maize BACs. Because many BACs and BAC contigs have been "anchored" to the genetic map it
may be possible to use the Blast results to establish the approximately location of your query sequence in the maize genome.
Febuary 2005:
Maize genetic maps available, some of which incorporate MAGI contigs
SAMI v2.0 is available for blast and download.
MAGI Cereal Repeat Database V 3.0 available here.
December 2004:
Submit a request to genetically map a MAGI that matches a known cDNA/EST of interest to you
November 2004:
SAMIs V1.0 (Sorghum Assembled genoMic Islands) available for blast.
October 2004:
MAGI Genome Browser containing assembly and annotation information for all 114,173 MAGIs in v. 3.1. MAGIs 3.1 with non-repetitive singletons is now available for download
May 2004:
Download contigs feature now accepts numeric MAGI IDs (i.e. 53)
April 2004:
MAGI Cereal Repeat Database V 2.0 available
GSS membership for MAGIs 3.1 available for download now.
